Landed!

Miles made it to Brazil.  He is serving in Sertaozinho just 10 miles from Riberao Preto.  It was great to talk to him and hear about how it has been so far!  He is living in an apt with two companionships.  So there are four elders there and all are from the US.  The other guys have been out a year and speak excellent Portuguese.  He said they were all really cool guys.

He has just been there three days so far, but its been pretty interesting.  The food is good and cheap.  He went to a restaurant today for P Day and the members feed them a lot he said.  A lot of people get baptized there but keeping people active is the hardest part.

He thought the city was super interesting and enjoyed riding the bus to Ribeirao Preto today.  He said that four investigators came to church yesterday.   Next week he gets to give a talk!  So crazy.  Thrown right in.  There were about 25 people at church.

He is about a foot taller than a lot of the people there and stands out because of his light eyes.

They talked to a guy in the park yesterday and Miles said he looked like he was so sick.  He had diabetes and his feet were black.  So sad.  Made me think of my grandpa who had to have his legs removed from diabetes.

As we were talking to him he saw a Toucan in the tree!  He said there are monkeys also.  He had some Acai.  Its very hot and humid and he said they are just always wet.  I told him to freeze the towels like Elise used to!

Anyway, it was fun to see him.  I told him we are going to send a package to his Chinese quarantine friend and he was way stoked about that and told me just what to put it in.

He got special permission to call Soren quickly when he gets home from school even though p-day is technically over.  I think that is so sweet that he wanted so much to talk to Soren.
