Monet is 20! We went bowling and to Tsunami for her birthday!
I think I've updated what is new with Monet and her running, goals, school, etc.
A few months ago when we were in Park City she and I had a night up there all by ourselves and it was so great to talk to her. She is such a good listener. I know how much she loves her siblings and when one of them needs something, she will be there in a heartbeat.
She is always cheering me on when I set goals. She will send me a little encouragement on my apple watch after a workout. Or when I told her I was doing my real estate classes she is always excited about that. When I started running again she was very cute.
She is also very giving. She has always been one that loves to give me special gifts. I have this cute little necklace she bought me years ago for Mother's Day. I love how excited she was for me to have it when she was little. And this past Christmas it was sweet how all the kids wanted to plan thoughtful gifts for each other.
She works as an assistant for Jared. And she has a card to use for living expenses. She is very mindful about not using it for other things. She writes down everything we owe her for and that she owes us for and she is extremely honest and she is very good at staying organized. I love this about her. I trust her completely.
She gets a lot of satisfaction from being organized with her clothes, her time, her school, etc. She got an iPad and keyboard for school and she is so excited to be able to draw her Organic Chemistry notes on the iPad. They will be such pretty notes!
One thing that we all know about Monet is that even though she hardly wears any makeup and her hair is usually air dried, she takes forever to get ready. The rest of us can't figure out what takes so long. And if you share a hotel room with her it takes her a half hour to do her nightly routine.
When she comes home on Sunday she likes to play games. No one can beat Monet at slap or air hockey. She also loves to sit and do a puzzle more than your average person. Usually while watching a sitcom on her phone.
On our last trip she got the whole family into Seinfeld. I came home the other day Soren was watching it by himself and I thought that was kinda funny. She loves to watch a little lighthearted comedy.
And lastly, Monet is someone who always expresses gratitude. Kids tend to absorb a lot of the things you do for them. I have a whole stack of notes from Monet and it makes me feel good that she still sees and acknowledges those things.
I loved seeing her interactions over the years with her teammates. Monet was captain for her Junior and Senior year and she always had a ton of assists and would play any position the coach needed her in. Including goalie. One year she had a new coach that put her in a position that wasn't optimal for the team and she didn't complain just knew that her coach would figure it out eventually. She was unselfish and constantly cheering on her teammates and the younger players. Track is very individual, and yet I see that she is developing that same camaraderie with her running friends.
She and I are different in a lot of ways. But something we have in common is that we both like to have a plan! We like to research places to eat and to see. Its fun to travel with her.
