A friend, Kim Beck, passed away earlier this month after an accident. It was so sudden and unexpected. Years ago when we lived in California, she was my visiting teacher. We went to the beach and on double dates. I was inspired by her dedication to finishing her degree. She was the mom of five little kids. A very sweet, very loving friend, mom, wife, sister, daughter, etc. She will be missed greatly.
This tragedy has led me to do a lot of thinking about how my kids and family would fare without me. I'm feeling a lot of urgency to concentrate on teaching them the really important things.
I am so sad for the Mendel/Beck families. For Jared's sister Kelli who was best friends with Kim. I found myself reading all the little Facebook chatter and just not feeling into it. So much seems trivial/unimportant in comparison to the weight of the situation. I found it hard to blog as well.
But, one of the reasons I have enjoyed blogging is it gives me a chance to put down on paper how I feel about my family and friends. It is a place to record my childrens' lives and all those little things that I might forget about later. But I think in the back of my mind, I also find a little comfort knowing that if something were ever to happen to me, they'd know how I feel about them and how much I love them.
