I love this tradition! I get two days with my kids all to myself and it is really fun for me. Christmas present to myself. This year was not the same without Elise. But we did get to Skype her because she had an early p-day.
We did a lot of the same things. Went to the lights on Sunday night and it was beautiful and not super crowded. We had dinner at Ruth’s Chris. Jared can always be talked into steak and we usually don’t take the kids there, but once in a great while we do. It was so good!
We all got Christmas PJ’s and watched Elf and Soren and Monet stayed up until one building a Harry Potter Lego set.
On Monday we talked to Elise, then headed to Eva’s Bakery. Always so delicious! Then went to the Gallivan Center for ice skating. It was super fun! Jared’s back is really bad so he took pictures. Soren was very frustrated and having a tantrum, probably due to staying up all night building his Lego set! But ice skating is pretty hard for that age.
Anyway, the rest of us loved it. Later we went shopping at City Creek where the kids finished up their gifts to each other. I love how they plan for each other and earn the money for the gifts for their siblings. We went to dinner at Takashi after. We hadn’t been there before and Miles and I went before it opened to wait in line. Still we had to sit at separate tables, so Jared and I basically had a date night. Lol. But it was good and we’d been wanting to try it. Super well-priced too. The Strawberry fields was super different and good.
We went back to the hotel and totally crashed afterward. The next morning we went to Gourmandise for breakfast and then Star Wars before heading home. It was fun to start on a Sunday and to get home on Christmas Eve.
My favorite part is all the kids interaction and playing together. It was especially great because there wasn’t much fighting. Yay.
